Interim (temporary agency work)
Working through a temp agency that is your legal employer while you work at a client company — at the same pay as permanent colleagues in the same role.
puntWork lists 5,182 interim listings in Belgium today.
Temporary agency work — 'interim' in Belgium — is a triangular relationship: the agency is your legal employer, but you work at a 'user' company. Agency work is only allowed for legally defined motives, such as replacing a permanent worker, a temporary increase in workload, exceptional work, or insertion (with a view to permanent hire).
Your pay follows the 'equal pay for equal role' rule: you are entitled to the same gross wage and premiums as a permanent worker in the same role at the user company. Contracts often run per day or per week; successive day contracts are subject to conditions. Agency work is heavily regulated in Belgium — the full rules are published by the FOD Employment.
