How many hours can a student work?
Student jobs come with an annual hours quota within which only a small solidarity contribution is due instead of the ordinary social-security contribution. The quota has been raised several times in recent years (from 475 to 600 and recently 650 hours per year) — so always check your personal counter on Student@work, the social security's official tool.

Above the quota, the extra hours carry ordinary contributions; the contract itself remains valid. Mind the tax side too: if your income stays under the applicable thresholds you remain fiscally dependent on your parents and keep child benefit — those thresholds change regularly, so verify the current amounts before stacking hours.

Hours above the quota carry ordinary social-security contributions instead of the solidarity contribution; your job remains perfectly legal.
