What is student work?

Student work in Belgium runs on a dedicated 'student employment contract': a written fixed-term contract that must state, among other things, the work schedule and pay. Any student whose main activity is studying can use it — on weekends as well as during the academic year.

The financial advantage: within an annual hours quota only a small solidarity contribution is due instead of the ordinary social-security contribution, so net pay is higher.
