About the Job
As Fleet Manager Inland Shipping, you are fully responsible for the technical condition, safety and performance of a modern inland fleet. This role combines strategic maritime leadership with a hands-on operational mindset. You act as the key link between vessels, shore organization and executive management, playing a decisive role in the future development of the fleet.
You report directly to the CEO and hold a permanent position within the Management Team, where you actively contribute to the long-term strategy of the organization within the inland shipping sector.
Your responsibilities as Fleet Manager Inland Shipping:
- Overall responsibility for technical fleet management, maintenance and safety of inland vessels
- Developing and executing a forward-looking fleet strategy, including maintenance planning and capital investments
- Leading and coaching superintendents and international remote support teams
- Ensuring compliance with European inland navigation regulations, class requirements and quality standards (ISO, vetting, inspections)
- Managing budgets, cost control and performance monitoring of the fleet
- Coordinating dockings, inspections, refits and newbuild projects
- Leading incident and accident investigations and implementing structural improvement actions
- Acting as the central interface between crew, shore organization and executive management
- Translating policies and procedures into practical, workable solutions on board
- Direct reporting to the CEO and active participation in strategic decision-making
Your Profile
Your profile
- Bachelor’s degree in Marine Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or equivalent through experience
- Proven experience in technical fleet management and vessel maintenance
- Demonstrated leadership experience within inland shipping or the maritime sector
- Solid knowledge of European inland shipping regulations and safety standards
- Strong ability to connect people, processes and operational realities
- Clear communicator, decisive and well-structured
- Effective in international and multicultural environments
- Willingness to travel regularly
- Fluent in English and a good working knowledge of German
